From a debut novel to an American history lesson, several books from Christian publishers have been honored in ForeWord Reviews' 2011 Book of the Year Awards. Words by Ginny Yttrup (B&H Books) won a gold award in the Adult Fiction: Religious category, while How Huge the Night by Heather Munn and Lydia Munn (Kregel Publications) took a bronze award. Was America Founded as a Christian Nation? by John Fea (Westminster John Knox Press) won a gold award in the Adult Nonfiction: Religion category, while A Public Faith by Miroslav Volf (Brazos Press/Baker Publishing Group) garnered a silver award. A panel of judges composed of librarians and booksellers named 209 winners in 54 categories for 2011, with the titles narrowed down from more than 700 publishers and 1,200 entries. The winners were announced at a ceremony June 23 during American Library Association's Annual Conference in Anaheim, Calif. ForeWord characterizes itself as a publication that "reviews good books independently published." Click here for a complete list of the winners. |
