Women of Faith, the nation's largest live event for Christian women, will host a new, in-depth Bible study event early next year. To be held Feb. 21-22 at Lakewood Church in Houston, "Unwrap the Bible" will feature well-known Bible teachers and authors Beth Moore, Christine Caine, Priscilla Shirer, Sheila Walsh and Lisa Harper together on one platform for the first time. The two-day event—which is expected to draw thousands of women from across the country— will be devoted to studying and applying God's Word, while providing hope and help. "This gathering is a dream come true for me," said Caine, author of Undaunted (Zondervan) and founder of A21, an organization seeking to abolish injustice. "This is a new day full of passion, purpose, unity, faith, hope and love. We have prayed, planned and prepared, and are expecting Jesus to do great things in our midst." Brenda Harrison, co-owner of Lighthouse Christian Bookstore in Bedford, Ind., told Christian Retailing that she "loves the theme" of the event. "The Bible is full of some incredible treasures for us to uncover, and this event will be encouraging women to do just that," Harrison said. "It sounds awesome. I love the idea of encouraging people to get into God's Word." Lorraine Valk, co-owner of Parable Christian Store of St. Joseph in St. Joseph, Mich., agreed. "Anything that gets people engaged in studying their Bible is great," Valk said. "For Christian retailers, I think making a large display and alerting local churches to plug into this event through promoting study groups in their own churches would be phenomenal." Since 2000, Women of Faith has been a division of Thomas Nelson. To learn more about the event, visit www.womenoffaith.com. |
