T.D. Jakes is featured on the cover of JET magazine, a newsweekly that reaches more than 7 million readers. Jakes, who has a new talk show on BET, was chosen for the Nov. 4 issue, as JET spotlights upcoming films with African-American actors, directors and producers.

The Potter’s House pastor discusses his new TV show, upcoming film and utilizing modern technology to reach the masses on a spiritual level.

“The Great Commission calls Christians to go into the world and spread the Good News,” Jakes said. “We can use television, we can use books, but there are more people in the theaters on Friday nights than the pews on Sunday morning.”

On Jakes’ new show, T.D. Jakes: Mind, Body & Soul, he hosts celebrities and guests to address the issues plaguing the African-American community.

Jakes also reveals to JET that on Thanksgiving Day, Fox Searchlight will release his new film, Black Nativity, an adaption of Langston Hughes’ 1961 play, which stars Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker and Tyrese Gibson.

Jakes also has gained recognition for producing films such as Jumping the Broom, Sparkle and Woman Thou Art Loosed: On the 7th Day.
