WhyNobodyGoesToChurchAnymore-webGroup Publishing authors Thom and Joani Schultz address the decline of the American church in Why Nobody Wants to Go to Church Anymore: And How 4 Acts of Love Will Make Your Church Irresistible. Released Oct. 1, the book by Group founder and CEO Thom Schultz and his wife, Joani, chief creative officer at the company, has seen attention from major Christian media outlets, including The 700 Club and FamilyLife, and has become a No. 1 Amazon best-seller on the Adult Christian Ministry list.

Church decline is a trending topic in Christian publishing, considering the release of previous titles such as I Am a Church Member by Thom Rainier (B&H Books) and You Lost Me by David Kinnaman (Baker Books/Baker Publishing Group).

“Americans have been leaving the Christian church in droves for decades,” said the authors, whose best-selling book Why Nobody Learns Much of Anything at Church changed the way tens of thousands of churches conduct Christian education. “We’ve watched church leaders try a variety of methods to bring them back, and nearly all of their efforts are missing the mark.”

The book reveals surprising results about what’s really working in the church and what isn’t, and asks one main question: What if churches offered a brand-new way to experience God based on faith as a relationship?

The majority of the book focuses on four basic principles for drawing people back to the church: the “4 Acts of Love.” The book shows how the four acts of love were put into action with the non-churched and the “de-churched”—an experiment so successful that it’s now being used in hundreds of locations around the U.S., Canada, and beyond.

“We’ve heard thousands of people tell us their stories, and the common thread is that the average church service is not connecting with them. People want God, just not how the church packages Him,” the Schultzes said.
