The Association of Logos Bookstores presented Book of the Year winners and other key awards at ICRS. Becky Gorczyca, executive director, presented the awards at the show in Atlanta, and with winners displaying the awards in their booths on the show floor. Author of the Year, chosen as the writer whose body of work exemplifies the power of books to change lives forever, went to J.I. Packer. Thomas Nelson and Zondervan both won Vendor of the Year, while Distributor of the Year prizes went to Anchor Distributors and Spring Arbor. Category book winners were: Fiction: The Auschwitz Escape by Joel C. Rosenberg (Tyndale House Publishers); Christian Living: The Question That Never Goes Away by Philip Yancey (Zondervan); Christianity/Culture: The Global Public Square by Os Guinness (InterVarsity Press); Theology, Doctrine, Reference: To Live Is Christ, To Die Is Gain by Matt Chandler with Jared C. Wilson (David C Cook); Spirituality, Devotional: Living in Christ's Presence by Dallas Willard (InterVarsity Press); Youth: Hot Chocolate With God Devotional by Camryn Kelly with Jill and Erin Kelly (FaithWords); and Children's Picture Books: My Mama & Me by Crystal Bowman and Teri McKinley. Each spring the members of the association nominate and then select winners in each category. In addition, 27 outstanding field and inside reps, nominated by store managers, were honored for their service to the stores. HarperCollins Christian Publishing representatives received nine of the nods, while Tyndale House and Noble Marketing tied for second, with four reps each. "We consider it a privilege each year to acknowledge, encourage and thank these other participants in our shared mission in Christian retailing," Gorczyca said. The Association of Logos Bookstores, a nonprofit, member-owned trade association with stores in the United States, Canada and the Bahamas, is celebrating its 40th anniversary year and will host its first executive director, Jim Carlson, and past executive director, Jeff Crosby, at the annual conference. |
