American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW) announced the finalists for the 2014 Carol Awards at the International Christian Retail Show (ICRS) in Atlanta. The Carol Awards honor the best in Christian fiction published the previous calendar year. Cynthia Ruchti announced the finalists in 11 categories, from Debut Novel to Young Adult, at a press conference. Christian fiction pioneer editor Carol Johnson, for whom the award is named, was on hand to open the press conference. The group’s CEO and author Colleen Coble also announced Robin Lee Hatcher as the 2014 ACFW Lifetime Achievement Award. “Not only is Robin a gifted writer, but she takes time to nurture aspiring writers as well,” Coble said. “Her well-drawn characters and heartwarming stories of faith, courage and love have earned her both critical acclaim and the devotion of readers.” Three editors are up for Editor of the Year as well: Vicki Crumpton, Revell/Baker Publishing Group; Nicola Martinez, White Rose Publications/Pelican; and Nicole O’Dell, Choose Now Publishing. The Agent of the Year award will go to one of these finalists: Linda S. Glaz, Hartline Literary; Joyce Hart, Hartline Literary; and Chip MacGregor, MacGregor Literary. Winners will be announced during the 2014 ACFW National Conference in St. Louis at the Sept. 27 gala. Click here to see the Carol Award finalists. |
