Washington Redskins’ quarterback Robert Griffin III (RGIII) followed National Football League (NFL) policy when he opted to turn his shirt inside out before speaking at a post-game news conference Sunday. RGIII was wearing a “Know Jesus, Know Peace” T-shirt made by Not of This World (NOTW), but turned it inside out to follow league policy that prohibits wearing unauthorized apparel during news conferences. Griffin was speaking to reporters after dislocating his ankle in Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Michael Phillips, a sportswriter covering the conference for the Richmond Times-Dispatch, tweeted: “RGIII was wearing a t-shirt that said 'Know Jesus, Know Peace.' NFL Uniform Inspector Tony McGee (former Skins DE) approached Griffin...McGee told Griffin he couldn't wear the shirt because it wasn't a Nike product. Made him turn it inside out for the press conference.” Phillips clarified in a tweet yesterday that RGIII “was not asked to turn the shirt inside-out because of its religious message.” Griffin has been fined twice for wearing shirts that don’t comply with the league’s policy, including one that bore the words “Operation Patience.” Click here to read an NOTW blog about RGIII and following Christ. |
