Crossway’s President Lane Dennis is on a mission—to get the Bible to strategic leaders around the globe. In a blog post, Dennis challenges readers to help this mission-minded endeavor. “Our greatest passion at Crossway, as a not-for-profit ministry, is to reach the people of the world with the gospel and the life-transforming truth of God’s Word,” Dennis said. Seeking to meet the need for the Scriptures and Bible study resources, Crossway is aiming to distribute 250,000 free copies of the ESV Global Study Bible to “strategic leaders in strategic places, where the need is greatest.” In addition, Crossway plans to provide the Global Study Bible free digitally, online and through mobile apps. “To accomplish this goal, three friends of Crossway have graciously provided matching grants of nearly $500,000, toward the total of more than $1 million needed to complete the Global Study Bible project,” he said. “Our prayer is that the Lord may move many who read this post to provide the remaining $500,000 needed for the project, by midnight, Dec. 31, 2014.” Through several pilot distribution projects, 10,000 copies of the English Standard Version study Bible already have been given to Christian leaders in 40 countries. Dennis said Crossway is trusting the Lord for the support to underwrite the cost of printing production for 250,000 copies of the study Bible, including delivery around the world, especially in India, Africa and Asia. He also noted that Crossway wants to partner with such global ministries as The Gospel Coalition, the Hindustan Bible Institute, Awana International and the Lausanne Movement “to ensure personal on-site delivery.” Dennis said that this project is “for the sake of the gospel and our Savior’s glory alone.” Go to crossway.org/givethebible to see a video about the project. |
