CIROBE (Chicago International Remainder & Overstock Book Exposition), the world’s largest trade show exclusively devoted to the buying and selling of remainders, has announced a change in venue. For 2015, its 25th annual show will take place in Festival Hall at Chicago’s famed Navy Pier, 600 East Grand Avenue. “Festival Hall contains over 170,000 square feet of contiguous exhibit hall space, so for the first time since its initial show in 1991, CIROBE will occupy one exhibit hall,” said Bradley Jonas, president of CIROBE and co-owner of Chicago’s Powell’s Bookstore, which owns and operates the show. “The adjoining registration area, Lakeview Terrace, has floor-to-ceiling windows offering breathtaking views of Chicago’s vaunted lakefront and skyline.” Jonas added that CIROBE is working with the City of Chicago’s official marketing organization to secure room blocks at nearby hotels, so for the first time CIROBE attendees will have multiple accommodation choices ranging from bargain to luxury. Navy Pier is a 3,300-foot pier jutting out from the shoreline on Chicago’s near north side. Originally part of Daniel Burnham’s 1909 Plan of Chicago, it has undergone multiple transformations in the last century. In its current incarnation, it has become Chicago’s number-one tourist destination. Attractions include a variety of restaurants and shops, the Chicago Children’s Museum, the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, an IMAX theatre, the Smith Museum of Stained Glass Windows, a 150-foot Ferris wheel and other rides, as well as sightseeing cruises. CIROBE has signed a three-year contract with Navy Pier: Oct. 22-26, 2015; Oct. 20-24, 2016; and Oct. 19-23, 2017. |
