WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group announced Friday a repackage of Finding God in a Galaxy Far, Far Away: A Spiritual Exploration of the Star Wars Saga by Timothy Paul Jones (WaterBrook Press). First published in 2003, Jones' book is an exploration of the parallels between the Christian faith and the original six Star Wars films. The new cover appeals to both new and old fans eager to understand all aspects of the Star Wars universe as they anticipate the Dec. 18 release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the seventh film in the series. By looking closely at the films, Jones unpacks why this series has resonated so deeply with both Christians and non-Christians. Through practical next steps and Star Wars-themed meditations, Jones gives readers clear guidance on applying lessons found in the series in everyday life. The book also includes an appendix summarizing key plot points of the first six films as well as a study guide for small group discussion. Jones commented on the popularity of the book. “There is, in every one of us, a longing to touch ‘the forever,’ to sense the magnitude of the vastness in which we live,” he said. “After [over 40] years, the popularity of the Star Wars saga shows no sign of subsiding. I wrote this book to inspire readers to relish awe and wonder because God did not only create us to long for awe, but also to live in it!” |
