Evangelical Christian Publishers Association (ECPA) executive Kelly Gallagher is to leave the trade organization after six years. Most recently vice president of business development at the ECPA, Gallagher is to become general manager of the Business Intelligence segment at Bowker, the bibliographic information provider. He takes up his new post next month. Gallagher joined the ECPA in 2000 from Beacon Hill Press in Kansas City, Mo., where he worked for 10 years, including four as publisher. During his time with the Christian publishers' group, he was named chairman of the Book Industry Study Group's research study committee. Commenting after the announcement of his move at the start of ECPA's spring management seminar in Newport Beach, Calif., last night, Gallagher said his appointment was illustrative of the way Christian books had taken “center stage” in recent years. At Bowker, Gallagher will lead the company's news business unit, where publishing information services include Books in Print and the PubTrack sales data warehouse system. ECPA President Mark Kuyper also announced the appointment of Thomas Nelson CEO Michael Hyatt as new chairman of the trade association's board. Hyatt takes over from Tyndale House Publishers President Mark Taylor, who stepped down at the end of a four-year term. |
