Casa Creación, the Spanish imprint of Strang Communications, captured three of the six major awards handed out at the annual awards banquet for the Spanish Evangelical Products Association (SEPA) in Miami yesterday. Su mejor vida ahora, the Spanish translation of Joel Osteen's best-seller Your Best Life Now, won two awards, including the Harold Kregel 2005 Book of the Year award for impact. Winning the Book of the Year award was a first for the imprint. Casa Creación's Destinados para las alturas (“destined to soar”) by Tommy Moya took the Best Original Spanish Work of 2005 award, the fourth consecutive year that the imprint has won this category. Major awards also went to Editorial Vida, Zondervan's Spanish imprint, for Publisher of the Year, while CLC Colombia was named Distributor of the Year. The Music Industry Award went to pioneer Spanish praise singers Manuel Bonilla and Oscar Medina of Mexico. This year marks Bonilla's 50th year of ministry, and he was serenaded by contemporary artists René González, Julissa, Roberto Orellana and Jesús Adrian Romero. Bonilla also received three trophies honoring his lifetime of ministry, including one from SEPA. Bonilla's story is detailed in Héctor Teme's new book, 50 años de un adorador (“50 years of a worshiper”), which released this spring from Editorial Betania (Thomas Nelson).
Best-selling author Max Lucado was the keynote speaker at the banquet, taking principles from his book Cura para la vida común (Cure for the Common Life) |
