Canada's largest Christian retail chain has changed control and ownership, effective June 1. Blessings Christian Marketplace Ltd. announced its sale to Mark and Angela Hutchinson. The chain was originally founded by Les and Debby Reynolds from the basement of their St. Paul, Alberta, home in 1987. Today, Blessings has 27 locations in Canada from Coquitlam, British Columbia, to Halifax, Nova Scotia. “First and foremost we are committed to strengthening our retail teams, through effective training and communication,” Mark Hutchinson said. “The stronger our base of stores, the greater our ability will be to offer resources and ministry to our local communities and churches. We will be keen to see every Blessings store building strong community relationships, hosting ministerial events, local seminars and becoming a place of community where Christians will want to be.”
Founder Les Reynolds said: “For the past five years, (wife) Debby and I have been praying earnestly for the opportunity to pass this business to someone that possesses the ability to lead Blessings from both a business and spiritual level. We have found this in Mark and Angela Hutchinson. For 19 years we have been blessed by the many opportunities that have been put in front of us along with many friendships and wonderful employees.”
