'The Bible Experience' nominated for NAACP award |

The cast of Inspired By…The Bible Experience has been nominated for NAACP Image Award in the category of Outstanding Gospel. The Bible Experience is a dramatized audio recording of the New Testament featuring a cast of more than 250 African-American celebrities, musicians and clergy, including Denzel Washington and Bishop T.D. Jakes. Developed and produced by Inspired By Media Group (IBMG) in partnership with Zondervan, The Bible Experience has sold more than 225,000 copies since its October release, becoming the fastest selling audio Bible of all time. “We are honored to be recognized by the NAACP from a competitive field of more than 1,200 entries,” said Paul Caminiti, Vice President and Publisher of Bibles at Zondervan. “Inspired By…The Bible Experience is an unprecedented project for Zondervan and a reflection of our ongoing commitment to helping more people find new ways to engage in the life-changing power of God's Word.” Other nominees for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People Image Award in the category of Outstanding Gospel include Andraé Crouch for Mighty Wind (Verity Records), Fred Hammond for Free To Worship (Verity Records), Kirk Franklin for Imagine Me(Verity Records) and Patti LaBelle for The Gospel According To Patti (Bungalo Records). The NAACP Image Awards honor projects and individuals that promote diversity in the arts in television, recording, literature and motion pictures. Nominations were announced Jan. 9 at a ceremony in Los Angeles. The 38th NAACP Image Awards will air live on FOX March 2. |
