Integrity Media Inc. has announced plans to provide Christian music for faithMP3, a digital music store unveiled recently by Franklin, Tenn.-based PassAlong Networks. The store, presently in its trial phase, features freedomMP3, a PassAlong-developed technology that will work with all digital music players, including iPods and MP3-enabled cell phones, PassAlong officials said. However, the technology does not allow users to upload the files to peer-to-peer file-sharing services or allow mass copying, protecting artists' rights. “We want to offer our customers a legitimate and convenient way to purchase and listen to music regardless of which MP3 player they use,” said Philip Manwaring, Integrity Media's chief technology officer. As a part of the agreement, Integrity has made available several hundred songs, which PassAlong sells for about $1 each. It costs about $10 to download an album, according to Integrity Media. |
