Just-In-Time Digital has announced plans to unveil its in-store Manufacturing-on-Demand (isMOD), the company's P.O.S. CD manufacturing technology, in 12 test-markets around the country this month. The isMOD system is initially being offered exclusively to Christian retail outlets, with future plans to offer the product to general market retailers. Combining the ability to store inventory electronically with the production of CDs on demand, the isMOD features a line of personalized children's audio products, including VeggieTales, Elmo, The Wiggles and Barney. Just-In-Time Digital is the first provider of these popular personalized products to Christian retail customers. The isMOD system, which has already produced more than 900,000 on-demand personalized children's CDs at mall kiosks nationwide, is currently being test-marketed at LifeWay Christian Stores in Houston, Nashville and Shreveport, La., as well as the Vineyard Christian Bookstore in Evansville, Ind. Company plans call for the installation of the isMOD system in an additional eight test stores before the end of January. “The essence of the Just-In-Time Digital vision is to ultimately make a world of inventory available to the touch,” said Paul LaRue, founder and CEO of Franklin, Tenn.-based Just-In-Time Digital. “Retailers will be able to offer hundreds of thousands of additional selections, including DVDs, software, audiobooks and choral products, and never be out of stock.” |
