Newsboys bassist Phil Joel, who recently announced that he has parted ways with the band after more than 12 years, plans to release a children's album this spring that will be tied to his DeliberatePeople ministry. Founded in 2004 by Phil and Heather Joel, DeliberatePeople aims to help people turn their passion for the Lord into a deliberate plan to pursue Him, Phil Joel said. Presently, the ministry offers a daily Bible reading schedule, devotional journal and music through the Web site deliberatePeople.com. Joel is currently finishing up work on the children's record DeliberateKids. “The Lord has put a real passion in our hearts to write new songs that teach and inspire the newest generation to know the Lord and to develop a personal relationship with Him at the youngest age possible,” said Joel, who released The DeliberatePeople Album last fall. “DeliberateKids is just one example of how we intend to extend the DeliberatePeople philosophy to all peoples and ages.” A native of Auckland, New Zealand, Joel moved to the United States in 1994, when he joined Newsboys. To date, he has released three solo projects.
“We wish the (Newsboys) guys all the best and pray the Lord's blessing on each of them and their families,” Joel said.
