Zondervan has announced plans to hit the road Aug. 10-18 for the Hearse Tour, which will promote John Ortberg's new book, When the Game Is Over, It All Goes Back in the Box

Starting Aug.10, a hearse will drive through five states to visit 13 Christian retail stores, including Family Christian Stores and LifeWay Christian Stores, as well as stopping at major events such as the Navy Pier Fireworks in Chicago, a Chicago White Sox game, the International Corvette Convention and the American Idol Tour Concert in Kentucky, Zondervan officials said.

At the events, Zondervan will give away more than 600 copies of When the Game Is Over and luggage tags during the unusual promotion. Karen Campbell, senior public relations manager for Zondervan, said LifeWay will have local radio stations broadcasting live at a few locations. In addition, the chain will offer customers a $5 coupon to purchase Ortberg's book if they bring an old book for donation to an orphanage, she added.

Due to be released in September, When the Game Is Over uses popular games to help readers live their lives for the things that really count.

"It's a book about what really matters most in your life and at the end, you can't take all of your material possessions with you, so it's important to live a life that leaves a legacy," Campbell said.
