A free new magazine for readers of Christian books is to be launched in September by Christian magazine publisher Strang Communications. Featuring author profiles and interviews, publishing trend articles and previews of major forthcoming titles, Christian Book Reader will be published every two months.

An initial print run of around 150,000 is planned for the launch issue, which will feature an interview with well-known author Max Lucado whose latest book, 3:16, will be released by Thomas Nelson in September. The magazine will be made available to consumers through general market chain Borders and libraries.

"Christian Book Reader will bring together our experience in producing top quality magazines with our understanding of the Christian publishing world to help better serve the growing and enthusiastic community of Christian book lovers," said Hue Grier, executive vice president of the Strang Magazine Group.

"We want to help build on the natural affinity that readers of Christian books have with 'their' authors by keeping them informed of important new resources and fostering the unique connection they have with writers who share their faith," he added.

Founded in 1975, Strang Communications publishes 10 consumer and trade magazines, including Charisma, New Man, Ministry Today, Christian Retailing and its The Church Bookstore and Inspirational Gift Trends supplements.
