Dove Award-winning bands Casting Crowns, MercyMe and Third Day were nominated this week in the Contemporary Inspirational Favorite Artist category of the American Music Awards (AMA). Casting Crowns, winners of the category last year, received its fourth consecutive AMA nomination, while MercyMe and Third Day were recognized with the groups' third nod. Pop sensations Jonas Brothers, all committed Christians, were nominated in the Breakthrough Artist category. The group's name comes from the three sons of Kevin Jonas, a former Assemblies of God pastor who is one of their managers. Winners will be determined by online voting at http://www.amavote.com. Votes will be accepted until Nov. 7. Jimmy Kimmel will again host the 36th annual AMA show, to be broadcast live by ABC from Los Angeles at 8 p.m. EST, Nov. 23.
