Robert H. Schuller—founder of the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, Calif., and author of numerous books, including Don't Throw Away Tomorrow (HarperOne)—has removed his son, Robert A. Schuller, from preaching duties on Hour of Power, the church's TV ministry, which reaches more than 20 million viewers. In a statement on the church's Web site, the senior Schuller said that he and his son had been "struggling as we each have different ideas as to the direction and the vision for this ministry as we move into the future." He explained that his new goal was to "extend the pulpit" to guest ministers, including Bill Hybels, Kirbyjon Caldwell, Walt Kallestad and Juan Carlos Ortiz, rather than focus on one or two personalities for the broadcast. FaithWords, the publisher of Robert A. Schuller's Walking in Your Own Shoes, had no comment on the transition. FaithWords also released the Power for Life Bible: From the Crystal Cathedral—by both father and son—in May. According to media reports, Robert A. Schuller will continue as senior pastor of the Crystal Cathedral. |
