CUMBERLAND HOUSE ACQUIRES WND BOOKS Print Email

Cumberland House Publishing will pick up WND Books, formerly a partnership of Nelson, starting Jan 1. Ron Pitkin, Cumberland's president, who said the company has published political books by radio talk-show hosts Phil Valentine and Darrell Ankarlo, sees the WorldNetDaily deal as an opportunity to expand into books driven by news events rather than by history.

"It struck me as an opportunity to contribute to the dialogue that is taking place in our society about public policy on a whole range of issues and to sell some books," Pitkin said. "In the publishing world, the boat is tilting very much towards the left."

Nashville-based Cumberland has 17 employees and, this year, is expecting revenues of $7.5 million, Pitkin said. Based in Oregon, WorldNetDaily is led by Joseph Farah. The Web site gets 6 million visitors a month.

The first book from WND Books/Cumberland, due out this spring, will be Atomic Islam: How Terrorist Iran Bought the Bomb and American Politicians by Jerome Corsi, co-author of Unfit for Command.
