Broadcast Music Inc.(BMI) recently honored Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Mighty Clouds of Joy and pastor Marvin Winans at its ninth annual Trailblazers of Gospel Music Awards Luncheon. Held Jan. 11 in Nashville, Tenn., the invitation-only event was co-hosted by Dorinda Clark-Cole of The Clark Sisters, who received four trophies later that evening during the 23rd annual Stellar Awards. BMI Vice President Catherine Brewton praised Armstrong, Mighty Clouds of Joy and Winans as pioneers "who continue to bring us the truth of gospel music." BMI President and CEO Del Bryant also presented an award to songwriter Percy Bady for penning gospel music's most performed song of 2007, "Um Good." Recorded by GRAMMY Award-winner Smokie Norful, the song is the first single from his album Life Changing (EMI Gospel). |
