Not many singers have amassed a body of work deserving a retrospective by the age of 19, but Bethany Dillon's new So Far: The Acoustic Sessions (Sparrow Records/EMI CMG), released this month, is as collection of stripped-down, acoustic versions of previously released songs. The singer-songwriter, who has the maturity of someone a decade older, is already looking back on a six-year career that has produced three original studio albums-not including So Far or In Christ Alone, a worship album with Matt Hammitt that released last month-multiple Dove nominations and the opportunity to tour with big-name talent. Those artists have included Shane & Shane, to whose Shane Barnard she was married last month. "Some people perpetually see me as 13," she said. "But it's just been awesome to see what (God) has called me to and to learn not (to) be completely tied to people's opinions." One of six children born to social worker parents and raised in small-town Ohio, Dillon said that growing up "we had tons of foster kids in and out of the house. You learned that life was not about your convenience." Read more about Dillon and her new music in the April 21 issue of Christian Retailing magazine.
