The Nativity Story

, which received lukewarm response at the box office during Christmastime, will be released on DVD March 20—just in time for Easter. New Line Cinema’s inspirational film that depicts the birth of Jesus was released in the U.S. Dec. 1, debuting No. 4 at the box office its opening weekend and pulling in a little over $9.01 million.

However, the first feature film ever to premiere at the Vatican, which had a production budget of $35 million, has made only $37.5 million to date. Supporters of family-friendly and faith-based films were disappointed by the poor performance of The Nativity Story, which could have been hurt by competition from other Christian-themed films that were released theatrically, including Facing the Giants and One Night With the King.

To be distributed by Word Distribution, The Nativity Story DVD, which features a widescreen and full-screen version of the movie, is priced at $28.98.
