The film is based on the novel The Redemption of Sarah Cain by Beverly Lewis and published in 2000 by Bethany House Publishers/Baker Publishing Group.

The fish-out-of-water movie stars Lisa Pepper as a hard-charging, ego-driven newspaper columnist in Portland, Ore., who agrees to raise her five nieces and nephews when her Amish sister dies in Lancaster County, Pa.

Saving Sarah Cain, which also stars Tess Harper and Elliott Gould, was directed by Michael Landon Jr. (The Last Sin Eater) and produced by Brian Bird (Touched By an Angel).

The DVD comes in a widescreen format, featuring a making-of featurette, deleted scenes, trailers, and English, French and Spanish subtitles.
