One hundred retailers visiting the DaySpring booth today are due to walk away with a free copy of the keepsake box that heads the new series of special Christian retail promotions coming this year from the card company. With an embossed floral design, the cream treasure holder features compartments for saving favorite greeting cards and other mementos, and includes a series of content cards with scripture verses that can be inserted into a window in the lid. The Bible-based references were added to the keepsake box, previously made available in the general market through Hallmark, DaySpring's parent company, to further appeal to Christian consumers, said Timothy Ward, DaySpring's advertising and public relations manager. The keepsake box will be offered to consumers who buy three DaySpring cards for $4.97, instead of the usual retail price of $9.99. Other new three-card purchase promotions are two 18-month spiral-bound planners for $2.97 instead of $7.99, a Christmas snowman plush for $4.97 instead of $7.99, and a decorative Christmas towel for $4.97 instead of $9.99. Ward said that Christian stores that had made use of previous DaySpring promotions had seen increased sales of the offer item and an increase of between 5% and 10% of other counter cards. “We are just trying to drive some extra traffic into the stores,” he said. DaySpring has produced around a dozen promotions in the last few years, with some more successful than others. “I think it shows our dedication to the retailers that we are willing (to) try some things to help build their business and drive customer traffic,” Ward said.
