Max Lucado, Jonathan Aitken, Voddie Baucham Jr., Harry Kraus and Jack Graham were among the speakers at the Crossway International Christian Retail Show (ICRS) banquet Tuesday evening at the Omni hotel during ICRS. Geoffrey Dennis, executive vice president of sales and marketing, told Christian Retailing the purpose for the event was "a time of worship" for the company's authors and staff and retailers from around the globe. "What we're really interested in is for people to see the ministry hearts of our authors," he said. "God has entrusted authors to our company, authors we are just humbled to be affiliated with and to have any form of partnership in their ministry. We are grateful for that." The event, sponsored by Crossway Books & Bibles, featured congregational hymn singing, introductions from Crossway President Lane Dennis, a dramatized reading of Scripture passages from Max McLean and an art exhibition from Ron DiCianni. The keynote presentations, on the theme of "Eternal Perspective," were divided into categories, including "Special Forever" by Lucado, "God's Eternal Word" by Graham, "Breathing Grace" by Kraus, "Family and Faith" by Baucham and "The New Heaven and the New Earth" by McLean. Author Randy Alcorn also appeared via a videotaped message to speak on "Our Heavenly Home." As the final speaker, Aitken finished his speech on "The Gospel and Our Culture-John Newton," attendees were led in the singing of Newton's "Amazing Grace." |
