CBA Comedy Night attracted a standing-room only crowd. Approximately 50 conventioneers were forced to stand to hear jokes from comedian Jeff Allen and ventriloquist Taylor Mason. Comedy Night was scheduled to have been held in the Murphy Ballroom at the Georgia World Congress Center, but the event was moved at the last minute to a smaller room next door, which didn't have enough chairs to accommodate the large crowd. A CBA staff member told attendees that more chairs couldn't be added to the room because of fire code regulations. The predicament was not lost on Allen, who used it for his opening joke. "It's nice to know right off the bat that we're breaking the fire code," he quipped. His remark drew big laughs from the capacity crowd, who enjoyed and didn't seem to mind the tight quarters or the delayed start of Comedy Night. Allen and Mason are featured artists with Bananas Comedy, promoted as the No. 1 comedy brand for the Christian market. The pair's performance was sponsored by EMI CMG and Guardian Studios. |
