Creation By Design has come up with a Bible-based trading card series that hops on the popular trading and collecting bandwagon, slipping in a biblical and random facts education along the way.

The company hopes its original 3-D computer-generated artwork will grab the attention of kids, and rekindle their interest in the adventures of the Bible.

“I wanted my kids, ages 7 and 5, to be able to learn about their religion without them feeling like they were in Sunday school,” said Steven Kaye, creator of the trading card line. “These cards had to be made in a way that the kids want to look at them, want to read them, want to collect them.”

Each card has original color artwork on the front depicting either an event, person or object from the Bible. The back of each card is divided into three parts.

A Narrative portion relates a snippet of the story associated with the card. The Fun Facts section relates trivia facts about the related topic covering such subjects as art, literature, history, science, culture and animals. The Timeline section places the events of that card in historical relation to the other cards and to world history.

The company is currently working on Old Testament cards, and while the first 100 shipped in January, the Old Testament series will encompass 817 cards. Creation By Design eventually expects to have at least that many cards for the New Testament as well. The information on the cards has been written and edited by Bible scholars of various denominations.

The trading cards are sold five cards per packet and 24 packets per box, retailing at $3.99 per packet.
