Casting Crowns' self-titled disc (Beach Street Records/Provident-Integrity Distribution) remained atop the SoundScan Christian Videos list for sales the week ending Aug. 16, while Minnesota Cuke and the Search for Noah's Umbrella (Big Idea/Word Distribution) stayed at No. 1 on the Christian/Gospel music Christian retail chart.

After Noah's Umbrella, the best-selling DVDs were: 2. The Retrievers (GT Media/EMI CMG Distribution); 3. Fireproof (Provident Films/Provident-Integrity); 4. 3-2-1 Penguins! Save the Planets! Christian author featured in TV show season premiere Print Email

Christian author and speaker Carol Kent was recently featured in the season premiere of WE TV's Secret Lives of Women.

Her story was one of four spotlighted, starting Aug. 18, on the segment "Mothers of Murderers," which chronicled how her son, Jason, shot to death his wife's ex-husband outside an Orlando, Fla., restaurant in plain view of passers-by. Jason was sentenced to life in prison, without the possibility of parole.

Bridge-Logos co-founder and president dies Print Email

Catherine "Kitty" Morrell, co-founder and president of Bridge-Logos Foundation, died Aug. 18 in Evesham, England, after an illness that lasted a few months, company officials said. She was 66.

Morrell and her then-husband, Guy, took over the charismatic publishing company in New Jersey in 1995. Bridge-Logos was founded in 1967 as the nonprofit Logos International Fellowship. The Morrells later moved the company to Alachua, Fla. After Guy--who served as president and CEO of Bridge-Logos--died in May 2007, Morrell inherited the company.

Standard’s iPhone app ‘reaching new audience’ Print Email

Standard Publishing is offering a free iPhone application based on Tony Jeary's recently released book Purpose-Filled Presentations.

The free app--available at http://a.tapstack.com/jeary/pfp--presents instruction and insight to help Christians better communicate their faith. With more than 1,600 downloads since July 1, the app is equipping believers with techniques for sharing their testimony and leading Sunday school classes, small groups and worship services, Standard officials said.

Family Christian Stores converts e-mail platform Print Email

The nation's largest Christian retail chain is converting its e-mail platform in order to better serve customers.

Family Christian Stores is standardizing all of its marketing and transactional e-mail on StrongMail Systems' commercial-grade e-mail platform. Family Christian previously relied on an e-mail service provider, but switched to StrongMail to improve the relevancy, reliability and cost of its e-mail campaigns, company officials said.

Bridge-Logos Foundation's show specials to Christian bookstores are being spotlighted in the Virtual Christian Retailing Show.

The Web-based event--hosted by Christian Retailing magazine--features 25 exhibitors, presenting products and extending some special offers to buyers. The virtual show has attracted more than 3,300 visits from 59 countries since it was launched July 20.

Three Harvest House Publishers gift titles were recently honored with The Tea House Times' Seal of Approval award.

The three books--all June releases--were Tea With a Twist by Lisa Boalt Richardson with photography by Lauren Rubinstein, An Invitation to Tea by Emilie Barnes and artist Sandy Lynam Clough and Take a Little Time for Tea by Kathy Hatch.
