Beautiful-DanBremnes-webGospel Music Association (GMA) Canada has announced the nominees for the 36th Annual Covenant Awards. Singer/songwriter Dan Bremnes (Capitol Christian Music Group/Capitol Christian Distribution) has been nominated for Artist and Male Vocalist of the Year, as well as for Song of the Year and Pop/Contemporary Song of the year for “Beautiful.” The awards will be presented in Vancouver, Canada, on Nov. 13.

A native of British Columbia, Bremnes said the nominations were “completely unexpected,” adding, “I'm very grateful to be recognized alongside such a talented group of artists!”

David C Cook restructures, promotes Michelle Anthony Print Email

MichelleAnthony-webDavid C Cook has merged all of the company’s learning-resource departments, including Bible-in-Life (BIL), Echoes, Tru, Strategic Partnerships and Field Consulting and Events, into the Learning Resources Group. Michelle Anthony has been named vice president and publisher of Learning Resources Group. Recently announced by Cook, the move was effective July 1.

As Family Ministry Architect for David C Cook since 2009, Dr. Anthony spearheaded the development and launch of the Tru Philosophy and Tru Curriculum, which have become successful ministry-focused brands. A 25-year veteran of church ministry, she holds graduate degrees in Christian education, theology and leadership from Biola University and Talbot Theological Seminary as well as a doctorate in theological education from Southern Theological Seminary.

Christian Authors Network honors retailers at Munce-hosted expo Print Email

CAN2-webThe Christian Authors Network (CAN) presented three retailers with books valued at $3,300 total at the Munce Christian Product Expo (CPE) in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. The event ran Sept. 21-23, with training and a personality party Sunday where authors signed copies of their books.

Winners of the book bundles were: Ellen Meece, owner, Handfuls on Purpose, Marion, Illinois; Deb Woodard, owner, Bethany Book and Gift, Baxter, Minnesota; and Kris Jodon, manager, The Bookstore at Chapelwood, Houston. Retailers who attended the event received gift bags containing bookmarks featuring CAN members’ books and their 2015 releases.

LaughOutLoudJokesForKidsRevell, a division of Baker Publishing Group, has announced that Laugh-Out-Loud Jokes for Kids by Rob Elliott has reached a sales milestone of over 500,000 copies sold.

Published in 2010, Laugh-Out-Loud Jokes for Kids was ranked as the top-selling title by Amazon this past Christmas season, with Elliott’s Knock-Knock Jokes for Kids placing at No. 2 on Amazon’s best-seller list.

Both titles also have been repeatedly featured on the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association best-sellers list.

Biblica appoints Carl Moeller as CEO Print Email

CarlMoeller-webBiblica’s board of directors has appointed by unanimous vote Carl A. Moeller as chief executive officer, effective Oct. 14.

Since 2000, Dr. Moeller served three years as a pastor at Saddleback Church, then nine years as president and CEO for Open Doors, USA, before founding Sequoia Global Resources in 2012. He will replace Doug Lockhart, who announced last March that he would transition from his role as CEO by early 2015.

Jay Sekulow's ‘Rise of ISIS’ becomes ‘New York Times’ best-seller Print Email

RiseHoward Books’ Rise of ISIS: A Threat We Can’t Ignore will debut at No. 3 on the New York Times Oct. 3 e-book nonfiction list and at No. 8 on the combined e-book and print nonfiction list, according to Jay Sekulow, who wrote the book with Jordan Sekulow, Robert Ash and David French.

“The book’s placement on the combined list is amazing,” wrote Jay Sekulow on the American Center for Law and Justice website. “Since the paperback doesn’t come out until October—and since pre-orders don’t count in the list—that placement is based on e-book sales alone.”

WandaBrunstetter-WebSales of Wanda E. Brunstetter’s books have topped 8 million copies, Barbour Publishing announced. Readers have purchased 1 million copies in each of the last two years, the publisher said.

The announcement was made as Brunstetter, branded as “Amish Country’s Most Beloved Storyteller,” was visiting with readers during her fan-filled weekend in Ohio’s Amish country last weekend.
