NQCAwards2013CollingsworthsThe Second Annual National Quartet Convention (NQC) Music Awards celebrated the best of Southern gospel music Sept. 13 in Louisville, Ky. The evening ceremony was part of NQC’s “Free Friday” concerts, in which fans can watch streaming coverage of the events online for free.

The show featured performances from each Song of the Year nominee, including acts such as Gaither Vocal Band, The Perrys and the Booth Brothers, whose song “I Played in the Band and Sang in the Choir” won the prize.

Technologist Aaron Linne joins Logos Bible Software Print Email

In his new role, Linne will lead the ongoing development of Logos’ online community platform, Faithlife.com, and its church presentation software, Proclaim.

“Linne is a digital native with a passion for helping the church use technology to advance its mission,” said Bob Pritchett, president and CEO of Logos. “We are excited to add his skills as a futurist and innovator to our awesome team.”

Bill MartinRetail sales will increase this holiday season, according to ShopperTrak, but retailers will have a shorter window in which to earn their share. A shorter holiday season will mean more cutthroat competition as retailers vie for a piece of the consumer spending pie.

The shopper analytics company forecasts a 2.4% increase over last year’s holiday season. However, overall foot traffic is expected to decrease 1.4% compared to last year.

Former Christian bookstore owners share their adoption story in new book Print Email

AreWeThereYet-300Hector and Sue Badeau owned a Logos store in Northampton, Mass., when God further stirred their desire to adopt. After four years (1979-1983), they gave up the store, but now have created a “forever family” for 22 children. The Badeaus tell their story in Are We There Yet? The Ultimate Road Trip: Adopting and Raising 22 Kids!, released this week from Carpenter’s Son Publishing.

While expecting their first child in 1979, they applied for international adoption and soon had a big brother for daughter Chelsea. By the time they adopted their 20th child, daughter Geeta, they had 22 children, including three sets of siblings. A mix of races and ethnicities, the children come from the United States, India and El Salvador.
