GRAMMY-nominated R&B artist Montell Jordan, BET’s Lift Every Voice host CoCo Brother, Daytime-Emmy-nominated comedian Chonda Pierce and World Heavyweight Champion wrestler A.J. Styles will announce the nominees for the 43rd Annual Gospel Music Association (GMA) Dove Awards at a press conference Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 11AM ET at The Georgian Terrace Hotel Atlanta.

MacArthur Bible to be available in updated NIV edition Print Email

Though the HarperCollins deal that will bring Thomas Nelson and Zondervan under the same publishing umbrella has yet to be finalized, the two are partnering to expand the reach of a leading study Bible.

The project will make The MacArthur Study Bible available in the 2011 updated New International Version (NIV) text for the first time, with Zondervan licensing the NIV to Thomas Nelson, which will publish the Bible.

Biblica international CEO to retire Print Email

Keith Danby, international CEO of global Bible ministry Biblica, is to retire Sept. 1. CEO Doug Lockhart, who has co-led the ministry with Danby for two years, will assume the reins of the organization, which serves 55 countries.

Danby has served Biblica and Send The Light (STL) for nearly 25 years, joining STL in 1987 as the first CEO of the new Christian resources ministry launched out of Operation Mobilization (OM). During his career at STL, he grew the enterprise into the leading Christian resources ministry, which included wholesale distribution, retail and publishing. Danby was also instrumental in the 2007 merger of STL with International Bible Society to form IBS-STL Global, which became Biblica in 2009.

Women of Faith launches One Day events Print Email

Live Event Management, Thomas Nelson’s live events company, is launching Women of Faith One Day events featuring a new focus in a more intimate setting than its two-day women’s events.

One Day events will tour to 16 cities on Saturdays—from Feb. 18, in Billings, Mt., to June 23 in Greensboro, N.C.—with the event billed as “a new in-depth experience for women to receive strength and encouragement all in one day.”

‘Christian Retailing’ relaunches enhanced digital edition Print Email

Christian Retailing magazine is once again more than just print. After a hiatus of several months, a digital edition is being sent to more than 43,000, in addition to the 6,500 who receive the magazine in print. The digital distribution includes 8,500 retailers, suppliers and industry professionals—including many overseas—who previously signed up to receive the magazine in digital format.

Featuring all the content of the regular print edition, the digital version can also offer enhanced editorial and advertising content. It includes search and browse functions and can be downloaded for later reading and shared with others by email.

Messianic rabbi Jonathan Cahn’s New York Times best-seller, The Harbinger, has debuted at the top of the weekly fiction best-sellers list from the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association (ECPA) tracking sales for the week ending Feb. 4, according to Pubtrack Christian data. Cahn’s warning to America also sits in third place on the General best-sellers list.

Baker Publishing Group and David C Cook have recently signed significant author contracts.

Baker Books, a division of Baker Publishing Group, has signed psychologist and author Larry Crabb to a three-book contract. Focused on what it means to be created as distinctly masculine or feminine bearers of God’s image, the first title is set to release in summer 2013. In it, he shows how men and women reveal something unique of God’s character by the way they relate to each other.
