Thomas Nelson has won a MarCom award for its KJV400 marketing strategy, while several book publishers are celebrating their wins in The USA Best Books 2011 Awards.

Nelson’s Bible Group marketing team won the platinum MarCom award for its campaign promotions of the King James Version’s 400th anniversary. The competition, which drew more than 6,000 entries, recognizes "outstanding achievement by marketing and communication professionals."

Espresso Book Machine demonstration at ICRS 2011Baker Publishing Group’s paperback titles will be sold on the Espresso Book Machine (EBM) “digital-to-print at retail” sales channel under a new agreement with On Demand Books. Christian Retailing first reported on Baker Publishing Group’s (BPG) interest in the program after July’s International Christian Retail Show (ICRS).

Ricky SkaggsThe Inspirational Country Music Association (ICM) and Gospel Music Association Canada (GMAC) have presented their annual awards, while the Stellar Awards nominees have been announced.

The 17th Annual Inspirational Country Music Association’s Faith, Family & Country Awards took center stage Oct. 28 at Nashville’s Schermerhorn Symphony Center. Awards were given in more than 20 categories with Ricky Skaggs honored as Entertainer of the Year and top Musician.

HarperCollins' Nelson purchase offers 'potential synergies' Print Email

Christian publishing leader Mark Kuyper has a message for critics of HarperCollins Publishers' planned purchase of Thomas Nelson.

The president and CEO of the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association (ECPA) said that announcement of the acquisition that would make HarperCollins owner of Christian publishing's two biggest companies—the other being currently held Zondervan—had been “surprising to many and unwelcome to some.”

A 2005 title by best-selling author Joshua Harris has reached No. 8 on the general weekly best-sellers list for sales ending Oct. 29, according to Pubtrack Christian data from the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association (ECPA). Sex Is Not the Problem (Lust Is) from Multnomah Publishers is a repackage and was previously released as Not Even a Hint.

Regal Books is offering its top-selling books at unprecedented discount levels through a new “Season of Hope” campaign.

“Our world is facing uncertain times, and Christians are not immune,” said Bob Bever, vice president of sales for Gospel Light, Regal’s parent company. “We have a number of outstanding titles that offer hope and healing from the ultimate source of hope, and we want to offer these with extra margins so retailers can pass the savings on to their customers.

Oasis Audio, Discovery House announce distribution changes Print Email

Thomas Nelson has signed an exclusive distribution agreement with Chicago-based audiobook publisher Oasis Audio. Oasis will be the sole distributor of Thomas Nelson’s new titles to stores and libraries in CD and MP3 format.

Oasis’ audiobooks will be released simultaneously with the Thomas Nelson print editions and will include retail and library versions. The two publishers will also participate in cooperative marketing efforts.

Rachel ChanMusic and film company in:ciite Media has announced its signing of Rachel Chan, teenage daughter of New York Times best-selling author Francis Chan. Her debut album, Go, is set for release Jan. 10, 2012, through EMI CMG Distribution.
