Needtobreathe-Macys-webMacy’s and Atlantic Records announced this week that Needtobreathe, the South Carolina-based rock band will perform in the 88th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, Thursday, Nov. 27. The parade will be seen by more than 3.5 million spectators in New York City and over 50 million television viewers nationwide.

Comprised of brothers Bear and Bo Rinehart, Seth Bolt and Josh Lovelace, the band will debut its new single, “Brother,” and will appear on board South Dakota Department of Tourism’s Mount Rushmore’s American Pride float, which depicts the natural landscapes and iconic landmarks of the state.

DanHubka-webFamily Christian Stores announced Tuesday that Dan Hubka is being promoted internally from media strategic business unit team leader to vice president of merchandise, effective immediately.

“Dan has a wonderful 20-year history with Family Christian that began in the field as a store manager,” said Chuck Bengochea, CEO of the nonprofit chain of stores. “Dan brings the balance of internal knowledge and creative thinking that we are looking for to drive our merchandising strategies of the future.”

MylesMunroe-webMyles Munroe published many books under a number of Christian publishers, who have reacted to his passing in a plane crash in the Bahamas on Sunday, Nov. 9. He was 60.

Don Nori Jr., CEO of Nori Media Group, published Myles Munroe books, including Overcoming Crisis, Rediscovering the Kingdom and Understanding Your Potential, under its Destiny Image imprint.

Sally Ross, Parable Group’s marketing and communications strategist, indicated that consumers were not significantly interested in buying e-books from Parable.com.

More consumers to start holiday shopping around Thanksgiving Print Email

31416954  Istockphoto-DesignLobe-webMore consumers plan to wait until Thanksgiving weekend to start their holiday shopping, leading to a delayed start to the shopping season, according to the 2014 Holiday Purchase Intentions Survey from The NPD Group.

Eighteen percent of consumers claim they will start during Thanksgiving weekend, a sharp contrast to last year’s 13%. Among those reporting that they will begin their shopping during Thanksgiving weekend, 12% plan to shop Black Friday, while the remaining 6% plan to do their shopping Saturday and/or Sunday.
