National media highlights dolls Kerusso's "God's Girlz" dolls were noted in a report by The Washington Times on the trend away from dolls, like Barbie, which some say are too sexy for young girls. Introduced 18 months ago, God's Girlz recently saw the addition of Imani, a black fashion doll, joining Abigail, Sarah and Hannah. "A lot of parents have looked at the fashion dolls that are out there encouraging girls to be something they are not," Chris Rainey, the company's vice president of marketing, told the newspaper, adding that the Kerusso dolls are "fashionable, yet modest." A California company, the Only Hearts Club, was also spotlighted for its "nondenominational" dolls that have "pledged to listen with their hearts and be nice to others." |
