Family Christian Stores released a new video Friday that outlines key changes at the Christian retail chain in the aftermath of this year’s bankruptcy and eventual sale. In the video, CEO Chuck Bengochea thanks customers for their support and acknowledges the need for change. Bengochea describes “bold new steps” to improve Family Christian retail locations. These steps include a revamped look, improved Bible and music layouts, a warmer aesthetic and an expanded selection of gifts. Tying these changes together is a new commitment to “selfless service” that aims to glorify Christ. Bengochea elaborated on this call to service in the video. “I’m extremely proud of our organization and the progress we’ve made, but I’m even more proud of the fact that at Family Christian we put purpose over profit ... ,” he said. “Our purpose is to glorify God by helping people find, grow, share and celebrate their faith.” Family Christian is also committed to partnering with ministries abroad in order to help the poor and needy. On the chain's official website, the retailer says it has sponsored 158,000 children through World Vision and raised nearly $500,000 for aid projects in the Dominican Republic, Haiti and China. Bengochea said he was grateful for the patience shown by business partners and vendors during the bankruptcy process. “Family Christian has been in business for a long, long time, and I want to acknowledge the grace and the generosity of our longtime partners and our vendors and our employees and most importantly our customers that have been loyal to Family Christian throughout this journey,” he said. “We are deeply grateful for your support, and we covet your prayers, your encouragement and your feedback as we work to get better. On behalf of the more than 2,500 Family Christian team members across the country, thank you for trusting us. It is an honor to serve you.” |
