prophetic-lamentTitles from InterVarsity Press and Zondervan were named by Relevant magazine as the best of 2015. The books received recognition for “(stretching) our imaginations and (challenging) us to go deeper in the compassionate and reconciling way of Jesus.”

Soong-Chan Rah’s Prophetic Lament: A Call for Justice in Troubled Times and Erin Lane’s Lessons in Belonging From a Church-Going Commitment Phobe (both InterVarsity Press) were both recognized in the nonfiction category. Prophetic Lament was also named the Best Theology Book of 2015 by The Englewood Review of Books.

Scot McKnight’s A Fellowship of Differents: Showing the World God’s Design for Life Together (Zondervan) was another notable nonfiction selection.

Robin Barnett, director of public relations for nonfiction trade books at Zondervan, commented on the book’s recognition.

“In A Fellowship of Differents, Scot McKnight talks about creating a church that is a home for all races and social classes, a mix of people with varying backgrounds, personalities and tastes,” Barnett said. “This book is striking a chord with believers grappling with hard questions about how their faith fits into the growing racial tension around them. Scot believes that the church can show the world what love, justice, peace and reconciliation (look) like. We are grateful that Relevant selected A Fellowship of Differents as one of its top 10 books of 2015 and hope the conversation about what the church should look like continues into this year and beyond.”
