The Gospel Music Association (GMA) and the Christian Music Trade Association (CMTA) recently announced several changes in staffing responsibilities, including a merger of the marketing departments of the two organizations. The restructuring resulted in a merger of the staff and marketing responsibilities of the GMA and CMTA to “create a unified marketing department under the leadership of Gabriel Aviles,” GMA said in a statement. Aviles, who joined GMA in 2002, will now serve as GMA director of marketing in addition to being CMTA director. Amy James, CMTA assistant since November 2005, will now serve as CMTA and GMA marketing assistant. “There are great synergy and efficiencies to be gained by merging the marketing teams for both GMA and CMTA,” said John Styll, president of GMA and CMTA. “I believe that the creative energy and enthusiasm of this newly combined team will boost our promotional efforts for both organizations.
The new GMA/CMTA marketing department will be responsible for promoting all GMA events such as the GMA Music Awards, GMA Music in the Rockies and GMA Academy.
