Thomas Nelson has announced the launch of the new publishing group Thomas Nelson Brazil. The new joint venture between Rio de Janeiro publishing group Ediouro Publicações and the United States' sixth largest trade-book publisher will bring popular American Christian authors such as Max Lucado, John Maxwell, Donald Miller and Charles Stanley to Brazilian consumers. Thomas Nelson Brazil plans to release 48 titles in 2007, focusing on business, self-help and spiritual growth-all in Brazil's native Portuguese. “This venture combines our authors' world-class content with Ediouro's robust distribution, marketing and publishing expertise in Brazil,” Michael Hyatt, Nelson's president and CEO, said. “This partnership will positively impact the lives of many Brazilian readers.” With a Brazilian population of 180 million, including 30 million evangelicals, the potential to broaden the country's Christian perspective through the joint venture is immense, Nelson officials said. Beyond publishing existing Thomas Nelson titles into Portuguese, Thomas Nelson Brazil will invest time in prospecting and developing Brazilian authors. “The market for inspirational books in Brazil is booming,” Luiz Fernando Pedroso, executive vice president of Ediouro, said. “That is why we are confident in the future success of Thomas Nelson Brazil. Distributors, booksellers and the public are eager to see good quality inspirational books on Brazilian shelves.”
Ediouro Publicações, which has been publishing for 68 years, is the leading book and magazine publisher in Brazil.
