Simon Barnes has become the executive vice president, development and marketing of the American Bible Society (ABS). Barnes has worked with the society and other faith-based organizations for many years.

"I am delighted that Simon Barnes will work for the Bible society on a full-time basis, after years of assisting us in many ways," said ABS President Paul Irwin. "We celebrate and appreciate his skills, combined with his deep faith."

ABS has embarked on an ambitious effort to encourage Bible readership. "The American Bible Society has a lot to offer, and as God's stewards, we have a great responsibility to ensure that it has a relevant role to play in instilling the Scripture into the hands, hearts and minds of the next generation," Barnes said.

Most recently, Barnes led a partnership with ABS for Geneva Global, an organization that provides insight into making life-changing philanthropic investments in outreach ministries in some of the world's most difficult places to work. At Geneva Global, Barnes served as senior vice president and director of advisory services.
