Third Day has lost one of its long-time guitarists. The band said in a statement on its Web site that "Third Day and Brad Avery have made the very difficult decision to part ways." The posting offered no explanation except to say "the time has come for us to follow our separate paths."

Avery joined Third Day 13 years ago, performing on its three GRAMMY Award-winning albums, the Associated Press reported. Billboard magazine reported that Third Day won't replace Avery, who is leaving to pursue solo projects. The band plans to continue as a quartet.
