Midnight Clear, based on a short story by New York Times best-selling author Jerry B. Jenkins, co-author of the best-selling "Left Behind" series, is scheduled for release on DVD Dec. 4 in Christian stores.

Starring Stephen Baldwin, the feature-length film follows the 2006 release of a short film of the same name, although the new Midnight Clear has been rewritten, expanded and entirely re-shot using most of the original cast, including K Callan (Lois & Clark) and Kirk B.R. Woller (Flags of Our Fathers).

The story of Midnight Clear takes place on Christmas Eve in the Arizona desert, where a middle-aged man (Baldwin) and an old woman (K Callan) each contemplate suicide. The film serves as a modern-day parable about how seemingly insignificant acts of grace can make a difference in the lives of others, and offers hope and redemptive themes.

Jenkins' son, Dallas Jenkins, directed the independent movie, which received the Best First Feature Film award in the Maverick Narrative Feature Competition earlier this year during the 2007 Cinequest Film Festival in San Jose, Calif.

Thomas Nelson has partnered with Lionsgate Entertainment for the film's Christian market distribution.
