Missiologist, author Ralph Winter dies Print Email

Missiologist and author Ralph Winter died May 20 at his Pasadena, Calif., home from complications of cancer. He was 84.

Winter founded the U.S. Center for World Mission in 1976 and the William Carey International University a year later. His 1974 address to the Lausanne Congress on World Evangelization created a seismic shift in mission strategy, with his call to evangelize people groups outside the focus of established mission efforts, according to Assist News Service (ANS).

‘International Market Directory’ for ICRS Print Email

Christian Trade Association International (CTAI) has released its 2009-2010 International Market Directory (IMD), listing more than 1,000 suppliers from 62 countries.

IMD is a year-round resource for both international buyers and sellers as well as a tool to make planning for the International Christian Retail Show (ICRS) easier and more profitable, CTAI officials said.

Christianity Today cuts titles, lays off staff Print Email

Christianity Today International (CTI) has announced that it will end four publications and lay off 30 employees.

To be shut down over the coming months are Today's Christian Woman magazine, the Campus Life College Guide, the Christian history bulletin insert Glimpses and the Church Office Today bimonthly newsletter.

The offices of Christian Retailing will be closed Monday, May 25, in observance of the Memorial Day holiday, but will reopen Tuesday, May 26. There will be no Christian Retailing Update report Monday.

Suit targets Christian store’s sign Print Email

A Christian retailer in St. Joseph, Mich., has been threatened with a lawsuit to remove her store sign.

Last month, Lorraine Valk--who owns Banner Books Parable Christian Store of St. Joseph with her husband, Jim--was sent a letter from a restaurant owner in her shop's business plaza, claiming that her store's sign was encroaching and trespassing on his eatery.
