JoiningTheDotsBarbour Publishing has appointed Joining The Dots Distribution (JTD)—formerly Integrity Media Distribution—as the company’s primary trade distributor for product in the U.K., starting in August.

“Joining The Dots Distribution is well-connected with the publishers they represent and have a great business reputation,” said Barbour’s Vice President of Sales Bill Westfall. “They go beyond the call-in customer service with their four full-time sales representatives who make account calls every eight weeks.

Tyndale stands by Mark Driscoll, continues Resurgence imprint Print Email

MarkDriscoll-webErroneous reports appeared June 30 on The Daily Beast and other Internet sites about the nature of Tyndale House’s publishing relationship with Mark Driscoll and the Resurgence imprint. Despite claims to the contrary on social media and elsewhere, Tyndale is not cutting any ties with Driscoll, pastor of Mars Hill Church in Seattle.

The company is planning to reprint the hardcover edition of Driscoll’s book A Call to Resurgence as sales warrant, which is how all reprint decisions are made, the publisher said. Tyndale also plans to publish a softcover edition of the book, which originally released last November. Furthermore, Tyndale is not severing its relationship with Resurgence Publishing, as some of Driscoll’s critics have claimed.

‘USA Today’ reports significant decline in online shopping Print Email

18250624Md Istockphoto-iPandastudio-webNearly a quarter of Americans have at least temporarily stopped buying online because of security concerns, according to a USA Today survey. 

Public awareness of Internet security breaches at eBay, Target and other large companies appears to be driving the decline in online shopping.

Newberry’s manuscript, The Light at Rat Pond, was selected from a pool of more than 520 entrants. His winning novel will be self-published through WestBow and reviewed for possible traditional publication by Thomas Nelson and Zondervan.

In addition, upon publication, Newberry will receive a free marketing package from The Parable Group to promote the prize-winning book in catalogs and bookstores.

Tyndale scraps Mark Driscoll’s Resurgence imprint Print Email

MarkDriscoll-webTyndale House Publishers has cut ties with Mark Driscoll’s Resurgence imprint, according to The Daily Beast news site. The company has removed from its website The Problem With Christianity, Driscoll’s next Resurgence book slated for September release, and reportedly does not expect to publish a trade paper version of A Call to Resurgence, his first title under the imprint.

Tyndale and Driscoll’s Mars Hill Church in Seattle forged a partnership to create the new imprint in April 2013. Resurgence published works by multiple authors, including Driscoll, and planned to release five to seven titles per year.

Hobby Lobby wins Supreme Court abortion pill case Print Email

HobbyLobbyThe U.S. Supreme Court ruled on two abortion pill mandate cases today, Burwell v. Hobby Lobby Stores and Conestoga Wood Specialties v. Burwell. Both decisions favored the family-run businesses.

“Americans don’t surrender their freedom by opening a family business,” said
Alliance Defending Freedom Senior Counsel David Cortman. “In its decision today, the Supreme Court affirmed that all Americans, including family business owners, must be free to live and work consistently with their beliefs without fear of punishment by the government. In a free and diverse society, we respect the freedom to live out our convictions. For the Hahns and the Greens, that means not being forced to participate in distributing potentially life-terminating drugs and devices.”

Conestoga Wood Specialties President and CEO Anthony Hahn was thankful for the outcome.

LifeWay employee leads hearing-impaired customer to Christ Print Email

VictoriaCano-webLifeWay Christian Stores employee Victoria Cano tailored her customer service to a hearing-impaired shopper at the chain’s Amarillo, Texas, store—which led to the customer’s commitment to Christ, according to a Baptist Press report.

The shopper came in when Cano, a 20-year-old student at West Texas A&M University who works part-time at LifeWay, was about to close the store one Saturday. The shopper, who didn’t leave her name, motioned to Cano, asking for paper and pen to write a note.
