The Parable Group named Tyndale House Publishers as the 2014 Vendor Partner of the Year during the annual Store Summit Meeting on Saturday, June 21. The retail group also honored several of its own stores for retailing excellence.

The Parable stores were honored for achieving excellence in customer service, sales and industry impact during their All-Store Family Banquet on June 21 in Atlanta.

Jerry B. Jenkins took home the Lifetime Achievement Award Sunday afternoon at the Advanced Writers and Speakers Association (AWSA) 2014 Golden Scroll Awards, presented at ICRS. Jenkins, who keynoted the event, received a standing ovation and said he was honored and humbled by the recognition.

Golden Scroll publisher awards went to Abingdon Press for Publisher of the Year, and Tyndale House editors Katara Patton for Nonfiction Editor of the Year and Stephanie Boene for Fiction Editor of the Year.

CBA honored author and apologist Ravi Zacharias at the International Welcome dinner Sunday, June 22 with the International Lifetime Achievement Award. This is the first time CBA has presented the award for international ministry.

Guests from around the world gathered at the Hilton Atlanta for the International Christian Retail Show’s International Welcome program. Attendees took part in meetings that focused on networking, ongoing education and encouragement from top industry leaders.

CAN President Angela Breidenbach is scheduled to keynote at the Logos Bookstores Conference on June 21, just prior to ICRS.

You and Me Forever: Marriage in Light of Eternity launches Aug. 26 and marks the first new title in several years from the Chans.

All net profits from the book will go toward providing food, shelter and rehabilitation for thousands of orphaned children and exploited women in partnership with global charities.

Authors of all genres are invited to a free boot camp with publishing veterans and best-selling authors at the International Christian Retail Show (ICRS) in Atlanta on Sunday afternoon, June 22. Author Boot Camp, sponsored by Christian Writers Guild/BelieversPress, will provide a crash course in book promotion, equipping writers with techniques to increase book sales and raise their profile in a crowded marketplace.

Writers workshop leader and best-selling author Angela Hunt will provide the keynote address (8 a.m –9 a.m.). Hunt has written over 130 books with sales topping 4 million units. In 2007, her novel The Note was featured as a Christmas movie on the Hallmark Channel. The Christy Award winner was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Romantic Times Book Club in 2006.

Forbes magazine cites The Parable Group as the third-lowest ranked chain in America, according to statistics from FRANdata of Arlington, Virginia. However, Steve Portratz, president of The Parable Group, believes the reference in the June 16 publication is inaccurate.

“We are not a chain. We’re a franchise,” Portratz said.
