90MinutesInHeaven10thAnniversary-webBaker Publishing Group is celebrating sales of more than 6 million copies of Don Piper's 90 Minutes in Heaven with the publication of a 10th-anniversary edition. The book has spent over five years on the New York Times best-seller list, was a USA Today best-seller and is available in 46 languages. 

Baker imprint Revell is releasing the new edition July 1 with a personal update from Piper, a publisher’s note from Baker Publishing Group President Dwight Baker, stories from readers on how Piper’s story affected their lives and an eight-page photo spread showing the author's recovery and his journey since 90 Minutes' 2004 publication.

Crossway, LifeWay send ESV Bibles to Liberia Print Email

ESVGlobalStudyBible-webCrossway has partnered with LifeWay and Together for the Gospel (T4G) to collect nearly 6,000 ESV Global Study Bibles for pastors and leaders in Liberia. T4G conference attendees were invited to purchase subsidized copies of the Global Study Bible in the English Standard Version (ESV) from the conference store and write personal notes to pack with them at Crossway’s booth.

By the end of the April 8-10 conference in Louisville, Ky., donations amounted to seven full pallets of Bibles that will be shipped to Liberia in the coming months.

GodAndTheGayChristian-webConvergent Books, an imprint of Random House's Crown Publishing Group, plans to release a pro-gay book the company describes as an “affirmation of both an orthodox faith and sexual diversity.” Releasing April 22, God and the Gay Christian: The Biblical Case in Support of Same-Sex Relationships was written by homosexual activist Matthew Vines after years of intensive research on what the Bible says about homosexuality.

Stephen W. Cobb, president and publisher of Convergent, also oversees WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group, home to Christian imprints WaterBrook Press and Multnomah Books, and Image Books. But Convergent was launched as a new kind of faith-based imprint whose titles were expected to lead to “an open, inclusive and culturally engaged exploration of faith.”

Jennifer Dibble will be managing the Family Christian Stores account for B&H. Dibble spent more than 15 years in the publishing industry with Zondervan. She began her career as an inside sales rep and within two years, was promoted to team leader. She spent five years as a CBA key accounts manager in outside sales, and spent seven years in international sales.

Retail sales spring up in March as winter weather ebbs Print Email

MatthewShay-NRF-WebWarmer spring weather spurred continued consumer spending and activity last month. March retail sales, which exclude automobiles, gas stations and restaurants, increased 0.8% adjusted month-to-month and 1.6% unadjusted year-over-year, according to the National Retail Federation (NRF).

“Consumers shed their winter coats last month for fresh, spring merchandise,” NRF President and CEO Matthew Shay said. “Retail sales increased in most categories and sectors as consumers took to stores to purchase new spring attire and home furnishings in hopeful expectation of warmer weather. Sales should continue to remain positive this spring with the approach of Easter and expected tax refunds.”
