GRAMMY-nominated artist Matthew West will perform on Katie Couric's ABC talk show, Katie, Thursday, July 18. West will also discuss his new gift book, releasing July 23 from Thomas Nelson.

Forgiveness tells stories of lives changed through acts of forgiveness. For West's latest album, Into The Light (Sparrow Records/Capitol Christian Distribution), he asked fans to share their stories. West noted that the 20,000 stories he received were connected by the same theme of forgiveness—the title of a No. 1 single from Into The Light.

"Forgiveness can mean the difference between pain and joy, brokenness and healing, confinement and freedom," West writes in the book. "Each of the stories I have selected for this book powerfully illustrate this overarching theme, letting us all in to the extraordinary world of each storyteller."

The inspiration behind the song "Forgiveness" was Renée Napier, whose 20-year-old daughter was killed by a drunk driver whom she chose to forgive and asked the authorities for his early release. Napier wrote the foreword to Forgiveness.

'The Lord's extraordinary provision' helps flood-affected Crossway Print Email

Crossway has seen "the Lord's extraordinary provision" after issuing an appeal for financial support in the wake of the company's flood damage in the spring.

"It has been humbling indeed to see the Lord's extraordinary provision through the outpouring of prayer, encouragement and financial support of the Lord's people around the world," Lane Dennis, president of Crossway, wrote to supporters on the company's website. "We have received well over 2,000 emails and letters of encouragement, including gifts of support from over 30 nations around the world.

"Churches, friends in the publishing industry and thousands of individuals—mostly from people whom I have never met before—graciously responded and faithfully prayed," Dennis added. "As I signed the thank-you letters and noted the gift receipts, I was often deeply moved—even at times to tears—by the extraordinary goodness of the Lord and his people."

In a May video, Dennis asked donors to help raise $360,000 by the end of the company's fiscal year, May 31, for priority projects.

Crossway's offices in Wheaton, Ill., incurred substantial flooding, forcing closures April 17-18. About 2 feet of water poured into the building's 32 first-floor offices, and repairs and rebuilding were expected to take four to six months.

Dennis noted that the financial assistance would pay for three areas: damage not covered by insurance; installation of new safeguards to flood-proof Crossway's building; and "key ministry projects."

"Although the initial repair estimates have nearly tripled, the Lord has clearly provided through your generous help," he said. "Remarkably, as recovery and flood-proofing costs increased, so did the amount of support—corresponding almost exactly to the new cost estimate."

Dennis added that several projects "will be sustained" this year, including translation costs for the ESV Chinese Study Bible, to be published in mainland China in 2014; distribution of an additional 20,000 Chinese-English Bibles in China for a total of 250,000; completion and global distribution of the ESV Gospel Transformation Bible; and development of the "Knowing the Bible" studies, to be offered free digitally worldwide.

'Evolution vs. God' movie aims to 'painfully shatter' Darwin's theory Print Email

Evangelist and author Ray Comfort's new movie, which he says, "completely debunks evolution within its first 16 minutes," will be released on DVD to stores Aug. 7.

Retailing for $4.99, Evolution vs. God will be made available to Christian retailers through Send The Light Distribution. A preview of the 38-minute documentary has been downloaded more than 6,000 times in one week.

"We had no idea that Evolution vs. God would get such a wonderful response, but it shows that this is an issue of great concern to a lot of people," said Comfort, producer of Evolution vs. God. "It was Sir Isaac Newton who said that atheism 'is so senseless.' How could anyone believe that nothing created everything? That's scientifically impossible."

The documentary looks at modern-day atheism through "interviews of several of Charles Darwin's leading modern disciples," filmmakers said.

The movie's Facebook page (www.facebook.com/evolutionvsgodcom) quotes Answers in Genesis: "If you believe in Darwinian evolution, prepare to have your faith painfully shattered."

Comfort's previous online movie about John Lennon, Genius—released last winter to coincide with the 32nd anniversary of the Dec. 8 death of the Beatles' singer—received more than 100,000 views in four days.

Comfort is founder and president of Living Waters ministry and producer of the award-winning pro-life documentary 180, which has been viewed by millions worldwide.
