Several Christian authors and artists are being featured in the "Extraordinary Women" conference series, which began last month in Tulsa, Okla., and will run through November.

Presented by Premier Productions, the eight, two-day events will include Extraordinary Women's founder and author Julie Clinton as well as speakers Karen Kingsbury, Angela Thomas, Stormie Omartian, Sheri Rose Shepherd, Lysa TerKeurst, Michelle McKinney Hammond, Chonda Pierce, Anita Renfroe and Donna VanLiere. Musical guests include Matthew West, Jeremy Camp, Mandisa, Mark Schultz, Mark Harris, Charles Billingsley, Adie and NewSong.

Peretti signs with Howard Books Print Email

Howard Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, announced today that it will publish a new novel by Frank Peretti in late 2011, the New York Times best-selling author's first title with Howard.

Becky Nesbitt, vice president and editor in chief for Howard Books, who acquired world rights for the title, said: "Frank Peretti is a natural storyteller and we're pleased to collaborate with him on delivering this next title to his waiting audience. We believe the book will captivate readers in much the same way as his New York Times best-selling titles This Present Darkness and Piercing the Darkness."

Nelson, Zondervan release 1,000-plus titles on iPad Print Email

Thomas Nelson and Zondervan were one of the first publishers to release titles for Apple's new iPad digital-media device at the weekend. The market is strong, with more than 300,000 iPads sold Saturday--the launch day for the device--and more than 250,000 e-books downloaded.

Leading consumer researcher Britt Beemer has some good news for Christian retailers, for whom he has authored two influential past reports.

His America's Research Group (ARG) has found a significant upswing in traffic and spending at Christian retail stores in the past quarter-fueled by a trend he said could be capitalized on with some good marketing.

Former CBA President and CEO Bill Anderson has broken his silence concerning his sudden departure from the organization after more than 30 years.

The longtime leader of the retailers group said that a leadership transition committee had been working behind the scenes for the past few years prior to his abrupt October resignation.

Strong debut for 'The Blind Side' DVD Print Email

The hit inspirational movie The Blind Side performed well at Christian retail in its first week released on DVD, debuting at No. 1 on the SoundScan charts.

One Christian movie executive said in a Facebook posting that the film--which won a best actress Oscar for star Sandra Bullock--had sold 38,000 units since its March 23 release.

New editor for 'Charisma' magazine Print Email

A new editor has been named for Charisma magazine as the publication approaches its 35th anniversary serving the charismatic movement with a re-launch and a new-media focus.

Marcus Yoars has replaced J. Lee Grady, who stepped down after 11 years. Yoars, aged 34, takes over after serving as editor of publisher Strang Communications' Ministry Today for three years. Born and raised on the mission field in Hong Kong, he has been in publishing for more than 15 years, including serving as an editor for Thomas Nelson, LifeWay and Focus on the Family.
